Information for Parents and Carers

boy with father

We aim to give the best available information to young people aged 13-19 and their parents and carers about life choices.

Research shows that parents and carers are the biggest influence on the career choices made by their children, so it's important that you know about the options and choices open to them.

You can talk to a Connexions Adviser at parents’ events at school or college or in your local Connexions branch.

They will:

  • Help and advise about choosing options for GCSEs and other courses
  • Provide information about colleges, jobs and training.
  • Tell you how they are helping your child
  • Explain about the opportunities available to young people.

The options and choices available to young people during this time can be confusing.  Qualifications which - when taken by yourselves - seemed straightforward have changed and are now new and perhaps strange.  When young people leave school the options available can seem especially complicated.

The pages in this section are aimed at helping you make sense of what is available for your child.  Click on the links on the left-hand side of this page for more info.
