Where can you volunteer?

Why Volunteer?

Get Free Training
All volunteers will receive health & safety information.  Depending on the actual activities, free training may be provided ( eg in First Aid, Food Hygiene, Child Protection, specific sports coaching, mentoring, youth work etc).

Get Qualified
A range of accreditations and qualifications can be gained through volunteering.  Free training courses will provide worthwhile qualifications which are recognised by employers.  You could get OCN (Open College Network), Youth Achievement Awards, Arts Award, D of E, CIEH level 2 Food Safety in Catering, CSLA.

Get Recognised
Volunteers aged 16+ can sign up with VInvolved who will keep count of the hours completed and rewards are given.  There will also be celebration events in Shropshire to recognise the valuable contribution made by volunteers.  There are also national awards to be nominated for.

Get More
Besides gaining qualifications and developing new skills volunteers gain in self confidence, make new friends and feel they are doing something worthwhile and helping other people, the environment, their community etc.

Get Applying
If you see a volunteering opportunity you are interested in you can contact the phone number or email address directly, or discuss it with Shropshire Youth staff who will help you.  There may be an application form to complete and there will be an interview but you will be helped with this.

Create your own volunteering activities

Many volunteers create their own opportunities and activities.  For example there may be an issue which concerns or annoys you, locally or nationally.  You can do something about it- make a difference.  VInspired run a Vcashpoint project which could help you to do something positive about it.  It may involve campaigning, fundraising, organising an event or starting up a group.
